The most instagrammable places in Québec City for event attendees

Québec City's giant 3D letters can be found at three iconic locations across the city: porte Saint-Louis, place des Canotiers and the Québec City Train Station. These turquoise installations are the perfect spots to snap a souvenir photo, framed by some of Québec City's iconic cityscapes. 

Start by strolling along the Cul-de-sac pedestrian street in the heart of the Petit-Champlain neighborhood, and snap a few pictures of the charming colourful umbrellas.

On Rue du Petit-Champlain, discover the impressive mural depicting numerous scenes from life in Cap-Blanc, a port district of Québec City. You can see residents fishing and references to tragic events, such as the cannonball, a reminder of the 1759 bombings. Then, walk towards Place Royale and appreciate the immense Fresque des Québécois on Côte de la Montagne.

Nearby, you’ll find the Musée de la civilisation, with its rooftop offering a vast outdoor space, and a stunning view of the river and Place des Canotiers! In the summer, the Grand Hall becomes an intimate and welcoming courtyard.

Keep walking up to La Cale at the Port of Québec, a vibrant, family-friendly spot to enjoy the small pleasures of summer. While watching the cruise ships, you can enjoy a drink and good food with your feet in the water. It’s a unique and refreshing experience!

Across the street, right in front of the National Assembly, are splendid gardens where you can observe various species of trees, shrubs, and plants, reflecting the rich diversity of Québec’s flora. 

Just a short walk away, you'll also notice the imposing and photogenic Fontaine de Tourny. This fountain, featuring 43 water jets and graceful figures, was created by French sculptor Mathurin Morneau in the 1800s and was gifted to Québec City for its 400th anniversary.

Nothing beats a walk on the Plains of Abraham to get some fresh air and… shooting some photos! Take George-VI Avenue to reach one of the most prestigious urban parks in the world and a major historical site in Canada. Don’t miss the best viewpoint at the Pierre-Dugua-De Mons Terrace!

Continuing along Grande-Allée, you will see the building of the Musée national des beaux-arts, known for its elegant architecture blending modernity and heritage. Its Grand Hall is simply outstanding, featuring the monumental staircase of the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion. The Café Québecor by Laurent Godbout, also located in this pavilion, offers a menu as appetizing as photogenic!

Eager to try out the Québec City bike rental service called àVélo? Promenade Samuel-De Champlain is the perfect place to experience it during the summer. It stretches nearly 6.8 km from the bridges to the Gilmour area and offers an amazing backdrop whether you want to admire the river, take a stroll, take photos, or engage in sporting activities.

For a beach getaway just 5 minutes from downtown, head to Baie de Beauport. The sandy beach, green spaces, and water activities will please the nature and relaxation enthusiasts in you.

Just a fifteen-minute drive from Old Québec is Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. With a height of 83 meters, the falls surpass Niagara Falls by 30 meters. On-site, you can explore walking trails and stop at various viewpoints. For even more breathtaking views, choose the panoramic staircase, the suspension bridge, or try the zip line and via ferrata.

In the evening, head over to Wendake to immerse yourself in the world of Onhwa’ Lumina. This trail celebrates the Wendat culture through enchanting installations, transforming nature into a glowing and inspiring spectacle.
